Policy engagement in counter-trafficking reform
Policies to counter human trafficking require a strong evidence base to inform their development and reforms.
The experiences and expertise of those vulnerable to trafficking as well as those trafficked are vital in informing these, and those who provide assistance to them.
Civil society often work most closely with vulnerable groups, identifying cases in need of assistance. They have often developed valuable networks at local levels, but may not be connect with government policymakers to inform needed reforms. Bringing together broad and diverse stakeholders can help to inform the range of responses to trafficking in persons and related exploitation.
Through policy engagement plans, we will seek to facilitate civil society and other stakeholders’ engagement in key policy priorities in counter-trafficking in the region. Through locally-led and multi-stakeholder approaches, we will support the identification of entry points and solutions.
