Sedex, the Global Compact Network Thailand, and the Australian Government–funded ASEAN‑Australia Counter Trafficking program, collaborated with Thailand’s Ministry of Justice, to unpack Thailand’s draft Promotion of Responsible Business Conduct Act in this webinar, and what it means for businesses operating in or sourcing from Thailand.
With global experts, policymakers, and private sector leaders, the session explored progress towards mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD), and how Thailand is aligning with the most progressive international standards and positioning itself as a leader in the region and beyond. HREDD, done right, will ensure risks of forced labour are identified, reported on, and addressed, to ultimately reduce incidence and risks in business operations and supply chains.
The discussion provided practical insights on how businesses can prepare – highlighting the importance of moving beyond policies to building robust systems for risk assessment, stakeholder engagement, grievance mechanisms, and supply chain transparency. Real-world experiences from companies operating in Thailand illustrated both the challenges and opportunities of implementation, particularly for SMEs.
Speakers emphasised that responsible business conduct is no longer just about meeting regulatory expectations. Instead, it can strengthen resilience, build trust with international partners, and enhance competitiveness in global markets.
Watch the recording to understand what the draft Act aims to achieve, how it may impact your business, and how you can turn responsible business conduct into a strategic advantage.
