CARE International Cambodia
CARE International Cambodia
CARE is implementing cross-border cooperation with Raks Thai Foundation to provide awareness of unsafe migration and human trafficking. CARE also has a long running program on Ethnic Minority Women that works with women and their communities in Cambodia’s north-eastern provinces of Ratanak Kiri, Mondul Kiri, Kratie and Stung Treng. Areas: Education for children, economic empowerment, GBV. Target Group: Impact Mitigation, People Living with HIV (PLHIV), Sex Workers, Factory Workers, People of particular ethnicity/ Pumpoun, Charai, Kreung, Phnomg).
CARE International in Cambodia focuses on empowering marginalised groups, particularly women and ethnic minorities, through programs in education, health, and economic development. While CARE addresses issues that intersect with migration and trafficking—such as gender-based violence, women’s empowerment, and rural livelihoods—there is no publicly available information indicating that CARE International in Cambodia operates specific programs directly targeting cross-border migration or human trafficking.
One of CARE’s initiatives is the “Safe Workplaces, Safe Communities” project. This program aims to strengthen the implementation of laws, policies, and action plans to protect women workers, especially in sectors like garment manufacturing, tourism, and hospitality. These industries often involve late working hours and inadequate transport facilities, increasing the risk of violence and exploitation for women, including migrant workers.
