Department of Social Welfare (DSW)
The Department of Social Welfare in Myanmar is responsible for developing and implementing policies, programmes, and services aimed at social protection and the welfare of vulnerable populations, including children, persons with disabilities, and victims of trafficking in persons (TIP).
The Department provides rehabilitation and reintegration support for trafficking victims, manages social welfare services and institutions, and works with national and international partners to strengthen protection systems and promote inclusive social development.

IOM Myanmar works in four areas: emergency, post-crisis and preparedness; migrant health; migrant protection; and labour mobility and human development. Under migrant protection, it supports the development and implementation of the Central Body for Suppression of Trafficking in Persons’s (CBTIP) National Plan of Action to combat trafficking in persons. Raise awareness of TIP in coordination with Myanmar’s Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division and CSOs. Provide direct assistance to victims of trafficking and vulnerable migrants with the Department of Rehabilitation (DoR), Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement (MSWRR), and civil society organisations
